After 49 years as a practicing landscape architect, RVi’s own Bob Richardson has retired. Bob founded RVi as Richardson Verdoorn with business partner Joe Verdoorn in 1982, steadily growing the firm’s areas of expertise and geographical reach across the United States.
While Bob has influenced countless landmark projects throughout his career, his legacy has an even greater impact because of the values he instilled in his employees. Bob has inspired many landscape architects to understand not only the project side, but also the business side of the practice. He has also empowered his team to grow their own areas of professional expertise in areas such as parks, transportation, and residential communities. As a result, Bob leaves RVi in the hands of a seasoned leadership team that has spent decades working alongside him.
RVi President Chris Crawford has assumed responsibility for managing RVi’s offices from a corporate level, and Barbara Austin has been named Managing Principal of the Austin office.

Congratulations Bob! You are a legend who has created a vibrant, innovative and sustainable workplace… what a great legacy! Enjoy your well deserved retirement!
Bob,
Congratulations from an old neighborhood pal, 4948 to 4970. Please get in touch when you can. Would love to reminisce. I think of the old times often. One thing escapes me, however: I can’t recall the name of your dog, the dalmatian. If you would, kindly extend my regards to Beth and Barbara and, if possible, to your mother, whom I remember fondly and still admire for her patience with our foibles, always with a smile.

Bob, It’s been a while since we worked together, but I recall how you and your team did everything with class – from the designs you presented to the way you conducted yourselves at meetings. Congratulations on your retirement – enjoy!
